Interested in the legislative and economic issues facing southeast Michigan? The Detroit Regional Chamber connects members with opportunities to get involved.

 

Volunteer for one of these Chamber committees


Brownfield and Environment Committee

  • The Brownfield and Environment Committee was made to examine, analyze and propose changes to the state of Michigan’s brownfield remediation program
  • Participants must be in the land-use and redevelopment fields.

Economic Development

  • The Detroit Regional Chamber’s business development group, the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership, works to develop new business for metro Detroit and for companies located in southeast Michigan
  • The Partnership is separately funded from the Chamber and relies on both public and private sector support to carry out our effort to strengthen the Detroit Region's economy.

Environment & Energy Committee

  • Examines environmental and energy regulation at the state and federal level. The areas we examine include: air, land and water.
  • Participants meet quarterly and must be in the energy, utility, environment or regulatory fields.

Tax Policy Committee

  • The Committee analyzes legislative proposals addressing taxation and its impact on business. The committee also works to develop new policies for review by the board and advocacy by the government relations team.
  • Members of the committee are generally CPA's, other tax professionals or government relations professionals.

Trade and Transportation Council

  • Strategically plans our future logistics and mobility resources, which will allow the Detroit Region to create a comprehensive transportation vision with prime access to trade in North America. This group takes inventory of our current assets, assesses our future economic development and growth goals, determines projects and advocates for resource allocations to achieve those goals.
  • Participants must be in the transportation, logistics, shipping, freight, mobility or distribution fields.
